96 corolla sd

hi,

i'm new here (hey all!) and wanted to get some input on a corolla i was thinking of getting.

it's a 96 corolla sd, so no pl, pw, pm or ac. it's got about 190k on it. it's in pretty good condition, no rust, good engine.

so how much should i offer for it? it's in montreal and i've got an reliable and experienced friend who's checking it out for me, so i'm not worried about any serious problems. anything i should keep my eyes open for though?

as well, any recommendations of how to supe up it's performance, fuel economy, looks etc?

my friend got a '97 for 3500$ with a new paint on it and 170km
ive got my '93 with a 7afe, 165000km on it for 2350$
and my girlfriend bought her '93 4afe auto., 114000km last year new paint, for 5000$

so i i think 4000$ could be a maximum, or around this, people seems to ask shitload of money for 93-97 corolla

i live in quebec city so it should be same price than montreal

i just got my 1996 corolla dx with 99625 miles in it, with power door, power windows and many more ... for $3150.

how much would i get for my 96 dx, matching trim, everything except cruise control, abs brakes. auto 35000 miles.

on autotrader.com i couldn't find any 95-96 corolla on autotrader.com for under 4800 in the toronto and central ontario region. i found some in quebec, but they were all manual, no automatics under 4000.

my friend went ahead and got it for ~3900. it's a grey-blue colour and has a new cd player too . i'm gonna give him a little extra so he can tune it up a bit before it comes here.

so any recommendations on upgrades to it?
