Question Help 4AF t Belt

Could use some in sight on my timing problem w/ my 89 4AF. Please read my previose post. 89 4AF timing marks. I do have a Haynes manual to refer to. Some thing is just not right. Thanks

i messed with mine for about a month before i figured it out but all you have to do is put it on TDC and open up the distributor and move the cam so the rotor to the 1st cylinder. the lobs on the intake and exhaust on the first cylinder should be pointing up(not directly up but up off the valve seats). you will have to take it off TDC to move the cam to the correct location just move it back when you get ready to put the belt on.

Thanks halforc, The rotor does point to #1. The loobs are in the right place as well as the outer gear. It just seems the crank gear is off, The piston is at the very top and the pully mark is on the zero. I still have yet to check the crank gear alignment w/ the oil pump housing to see if it the same as the pully mark on the zero for TDC.
I don't work on cars for a living, but I am no stranger to swinging a wrench. I have had a few toyotas, change t belts in other makes and do my own work on everything. I just need to put in more time in to figure it out. Thanks for your suggestion.
