Exclamation Exhaust/Muffler QUESTION HELP

hey everyone, here is my problem i own a 92 corolla. when i purchased it the exhaust was rotten threw. i am looking to order piping, i am trying to do this the cheapest way i can. the piping that is eaten threw is from the cat back. everything elts is in good condition. ok here is the first question i have been looking to buy bolt on replacements i went to local shop around here they said about 95-110 for just that peice of piping and i have been looking online at prices and descovered diffrent names.they refure it to the front muffler. here are the links for 2 of them
http://www2.maximumautoparts.com/par...ler&category=H
and http://www.cheapexhaust.com/toyota-corolla-muffler.html on this sight you have to go down to 1990-1992 Front Pipe (72818) 1.6L. my question is are those both the same piping and is that what i am looking for? just the peice of piping that runs from the cat back to the muffler? if its not would some one be willing to tell me what its actully called and maybe a link to a sight i can purchase it from? i thanks for everyone help!!

Erik

Is yours a sedan? I have a '90 (same car) and when I got it my exhaust was rotten as well. I went to a wrecking yard and got the whole shootin' match for about $30. The whole stock exhaust bolts together (no welding or cutting necessary), so all you have to do is find a wrecked car with a good exhaust. Yards can't sell used cats, but they can sell everyting else. With the car up on jackstands you can unbolt the old exhaust and manuever it out of the vehicle, then fit the replacement exhaust system. I was lucky enough to find a car with an excellent FACTORY exhaust system (had the original Toyota muffler, not some cheap-ass Midas POS), which is the way to go. There are tons of these in the wrecking yards, and finding a cheap used exhaust system should not be too tough. The part that Maximum has is the center exhaust pipe. It runs from the cat to the muffler. The part that CheapExhaust has is the front pipe. It runs from the manifold to the cat. Their prices are good, but a yard would be much cheaper. Good luck. Regards, Aaron

my 91 used to rot out at least once a year or so. you can go to toyota and pay alot for the parts but they upgraded to stainless steel which is why. so its lifetime warranty exhuast.

try using the Factory Sport Unit from TRD, it has a stainless canister which you don't need to paint and will definitely not rot plus it has a twin tip exhaust from the base which gives the car a sportier look from the rear.
