Cool exhaust question

hey guys i'm thinking taking out my center barrel on my ae92 sedan corolla and replacing it with a stright piece of pipe so i can have a straight through setup. And besides i think it would have a better sound seeing that i have on a RS exhaust already. but the question(s) is would be a good idea and how effective would it be.

It wont be easy to do... gastank and spare wheel well are in the way, so your exhaust pipe would be REALLY low and hit everything. Plus it would look silly.

well i should have said i would like to run a straight through exhaust system. i don't mean running a straight peice of pipe form the front of the car to the back.i should want to remove the center barrel thats all and leave the rest as they are.

Gonna sound like shit, you're gonna have to drive around with earmuffs on and I bet your girlfriend wont ride in your car. The center muffler is a straight-through design as it is.

Just get highflow cat and resonator. I had Magnflow muffler, highflow cat and you can hear me from 2 blocks away. Put resonator back its still loud. For some reason the 4A-FE is loud.

plus you will lose some back pressure when you take out the center barrel. try getting a highflow cat and resonator liske what pineapple said.

as for the sound, let the headers do the trick or a large diameter downpipe. it should give you the extra kick that you want plus it would sound better than putting a straight pipe to replace your center barrel.

Because cats arent meant to be mufflers, and resonators and straight through mufflers need backpressure to work, and with a straight exhaust, that aint happening. thats why its loud. Plus the volume of most "tuning" mufflers is ridiculously small.
