Unhappy Car not starting...again! '97 Corolla Automatic

After spending $400 to replace the starter and burnt wires, the car ran fine for two weeks (see my previous thread). Then, it stopped starting.

I tried starting the car three days ago. Luckily, the starter works fine, but for some reason, the engine will not run.

I am pretty much completely lost on why this isn't working.

I did notice that as I first starting pumping the accelerator, that I accidently had the car's rug jammed on top of the accelerator overnight. I heard that that has no affect on the car whatsoever though.

The only option I can think of is taking the car back to the guy who replaced the starter & wires.

Any opinions or help? I would appreciate it very much.

Check the wires to see if they're plugged in tight.. maybe he didn't put them on tight enough and you might not be getting a spark. Other than that, maybe the plugs are done now.. if the wires were dead, chances are the plugs might be gone now too.

Ok I kinda had the same problem with my 96' and it turned out it was the 100watt fuse once that was replaced it started right up, this was caused when the positive and negative wires touched, or if you jump your car wrong it will happen

Good luck

If the engine cranks over fast with a no start meaning not even hitting on one cylinder then it sounds like a loose ground wire somewhere it might be a wire loose/off on your ignition pk.....I did the same thing replacing an alternator and I accidentally knocked one of the wires loose.. but it wouldn't hurt to take a look at your fuses as Fmmc_jay said...

battery maybe.. sometimes the battery will have enough power to hold all the lights and instruments on.. but not enough amps to crank the motor.

If your talking about the starter its about $150 at a shop and if you get one from the bone yard and put it on yourself your looking at about $35...only has two bolts on it but I don't know how hard it would be to get to on your model....a clicking solenoid and no crank with the battery being good will mean 95% of the time your starters almost shot...JMHO ...Raddman
