Question What is AE85

I was reading some posts previously and I noticed that some people were posting the chassies code AE85. What is the difference between the AE85 and AE86??? Would a 1985 Corolla be an AE85??? Thanks for any help.

The difference would be the numbers on the end.

no theres no turbo on a stock engine, they dont differ on the outside really at all, so you cant point out and say "oh thats an AE85" the engine is a 1.5liter.
..btw its SOHC (Single OverHead Cam)

An AE85 Chassis is Identical to the AE86. The Difference is The AE85 is a SOHC(single Over Head Cam) and the AE86 is A DOHC(Dual Over Head Cam)

What bothers me is that this dude wants to buy a car that apparently he knows shit about... from the beginning he strikes me as one of those people who watched Initial D and said... "I'm fucking buying that car!!!!" without knowing the implications of owning one.

I see a few people in this thread that we can associate the bolded section in the quote above to. Funny, yet disappointing at the same time.

Evan If he Did watch Initial D He would Of known that an AE85 is a SOHC and the AE86 is a DOCH because it tells you in the show. What an Idiot! I think he is watching just the races in the show. Skipping through all the talking. There is no way to drive that amazing on a Downhill like Takumi. Because it's a Cartoon!!
