Cruise is not limited to cars with automatics. There is an additional disruptor switch on the clutch pedal (like the one on the brake pedal) to disengage the cruise when the clutch is depressed, which keeps the engine from over-revving itself to death while the cruise is activated. If you want to use the factory setup, you need to find one in a yard that has cruise and a 5-speed. This will be tough, as most cars equipped with cruise control are LE models, and they tend to be automatics.
But there is another problem. The controls for the cruise are on the same switch as the wipers. I have never seen a car with cruise that did not have variable interval wipers (different setup than regular interval wipers found on other models). Because they use the same control stalk I think these two options may have been paired together exclusively, so if you add cruise you may have to change your wipers, too. One of the most annoying things about Corollas is the fact they are not prewired for all options or even just popular options like cruise, power windows, trunk lights, etc. If you want to install a factory cruise setup on a Corolla you have to wire it from scratch. Kind of a hassle...if you can't find anything aftermarket that will work it may be more trouble than it is worth.
