Loud Sound..

aww man...this car gets me soo frustrated!! not a good start to my wk!

so i decided to take my brother out to the movies last nite....i started the car n noticed a pretty rough sound coming out of the front of the car..popped the hood n couldnt really figure out where its coming from.

The sound is still there....its a crackling loud sound..

I took the car for an oil change and the guy told me that it sounds like my EXHAUST....
I'm still a newbie...so i dnt kno what to get of that assumption of his...

i'll try postin a sound clip..mayb that might help?

but in the meanwhile...can u guys direct me tha possibilities of what the crackling, idle sound from the front of the car?

It is probably a heat shield. There are several heat shields including one on the exhaust manifold. check to see if any of them are loose.

You can check yourself. Wait a long time for everything to cool, then just go around driving to move stuff, and if it's loose and it looks like it shouldn't be loose, tighten it down.

If it is the heat shield it isn't anything to worry about but, without hearing the actual noise I cannot give a definite answer.

today i started that car for school (its -22C here) and there was smoke from the hood...i popped it n noticed that the smoke(or steam) was coming from the top (a small lil gap) of the heat shield covering the exahust and somewhere from the bottom of the car..also noticed a strong smell of gas....

im at school with my parnts car (damn they have a better system thna mine!!).
I'll post pictures to indicate where smoke was comin from and also audio.
