With everybody always asking if turbos can be fitted and what kind of work needs to be done with more power...why dont we as a group design a turbo kit designed for the corolla generation...especially the 92 and earlier GTS's.....I know I would buy a turbo that just bolted on.........you know like every other car out there....civics....nissans.....you name it they all have there bolt on turbos with computers and everything.....so why dont we....are we really that lazy??
I know what your gonna say "its too hard, do you realize the work that needs too be done" and yes I do...but as a group Im sure we can do it....so come on Corolla brothers lets build a turbo !!!!

I think he's talking about kits for corollas in general, no one seems to make an "AE92 Turbo Kit" like there is turbo kits for civics and other japanese cars.
It's because the AE92 came out with different engines in different countries unlike with Honda for example, they only have 4 engines for the civic, the B16 (1.6L DOHC) and D16 (1.6L SOHC) and 1.5L and 1.3L SOHC variants which are less likely to get aftermarket performance upgrades regardless of the country where the cars would be sold.
Also, the 92 have different variations such as the GTS and the 4-door sedans and the coupes.
Though the idea would be nice, it's difficult to build a turbo generally for all AE92s. It's still best to build a turbo based on the engine type and the chassis too. But for those who are willing to build a turbo for the 3rd gen smallport (without TVIS) 4A-GE, count me in!
^^^ i hope u know that honda and acura is the same thing.... so there r more then just the 4 motor that wer talkin about..... B18, ZC and ect..... =P
i know this bcuz i use to own a civic untill i upgraded myself to a 86 =D
We are talking about cars straight from the factory, meaning civics not having B18s since they are meant for the Integra and the B18C1 is for the ITR (Integra Type-R). Honda has more than the B series, they have the H22 for the 1st gen prelude and the 96 model Accord which sports a 2.2L I-4 VTEC and the K series engines, K20 on the RSX and K24 on the CRV and the F20C for the S2000.
I know this too since I drove an EK4 Civic before i wrecked it. =D
so Im not very knowegable about turbos and stuff, But Im thinking that all the hardware can be the same.......and as far as I know the GTS engines are allthe same exept for the insides.(porting)..so wouldn't it reason that you could just adjust the computer for that engine? and as for the sr5 and the sedans they use the same engine as well dont they..bar from having the inerds tweaked by toyota.........so I could be totally living a dream but what do you guys think?

That is why there should be variations for the turbo. The smallport doesn't have TVIS whereas the first 2 have bigports to accomodate TVIS, thus different turbo setup. The sedans use different engines in different countries, from a 2E (1.3L carbed SOHC 12 valve), 4A-F, 4A-FE, 5A, 5A-FE, 4A-GE (16V) and 4A-GE(20V) to a 4A-GZE.

Okay, so what kind of variations are you talking about? Are you talking about actuall turbo sizes? Piping?
I'd be more interested in just getiting turbos made for the Ae92 GTS first....then Im sure other turbo kits would follow....you wouldnt need to make a turbo for the 4agze becuase its already supercharged.
What im suggesting is a affordable turbo that can be developed cheaply.....give us more horsepower and be adaptable to a varing amount of engines.
sombody mentioned theres already turbo manifolds for the cars? wicked..now all we need is a turbo..someone to fabricatet the parts and design an Ecu to run the newly turboed engine
RIGHT???
