I own an '03 Corolla S. Don't think you need extended warranty; visually check car, open hood, bring someone mechanically incline if possible. Ask who used to own the car (what kind of driver) and for any maintenace records, if available. 03corollas have the following:

Basic Coverage: Components other than normal wear and maintenance items are covered for 3 years/36,000 miles from the date of first use.
Powertrain Coverage: Your engine, transmission/transaxle, front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, seatbelts and air bags are covered for 5 years/60,000 miles from the date of first use.
Rust-Through Coverage: Corrosion perforation of sheet metal is covered for 5 years/unlimited miles from the date of first use. Federal Emission Coverage: Components under the federal emission defect warranty are covered for 3 years/36,000 miles from the date of first use and specified major emission control components are covered for 8 years/80,000 miles from the date of first use. Specified major emission control components under emission performance warranty are also covered for 8 years/80,000 miles from the date of first use. In addition, emission performance warranty is applicable for 2 years/24,000 miles from the date of first use in states and local jurisdictions that require a periodic EPA-approved inspection and maintenance program.
