Please help! Corolla Door problems.

Hi, ive got a 93 corolla, and my rear passenger door will not stay shut. The lock mehanism will not stay locked. Also when i took a screwdriver and slid it into the mechanism, and then pulled the door handles, neither of them released the lock. is something disconnected? i removed the door panel but cannot see the problem. Thank you, i appreciate the help.

You might need a new locking mechanism. Maybe just the latch part (the metal piece at the rear side of your door, where the small hook from the car attaches to). Or it could be as simple as a broken plastic part. Happens often.

I lubricated the mechanism with WD40 on my 2001 Corolla

It was cold and the viscosity of the grease was too high. I lubricated the mechanism with WD40 and the door would then close. I see you are in MA. It's cold there. Maybe same problem.
