intake inquiry

i just got a cai(cold air intake) for my 94 corolla i went to replace the stock and i notice the stock intake had a plug with wires going to it(looked like a sensor), but the CAI doesn't have any holes for it, what do i do? just put it in and disregard the wire? is it a sensor? all answers are appreciated.

Obviously it wasn't if it didn't have the right holes for the hoses. chances are you bought one of those "one size fits all" intakes.

You have to put the sensor on. I believe it is calld the air temp sensor. You need it .

There is a rubber groument the sensor go through on the stock airbox. Take that, drill a hole on the CAI pipe a bit smaller (1/16-1/8) then the rubber. Put the rubber in and the sensor.

You need the sensor somewhere along your intake piping. My aftermarket intake came with a hole for it. If there's not one somewhere on there, just drill one, it's not too hard. I would reccommend drilling through the piping and not the grommet. Because the grommet may deteriorate a little, or the hole may get larger, and then the grommet may not hold the piping on. A hole in the piping will not grow larger. Do you have a pic of the CAI you purchased? Perhaps you just don't see the hole?

Agree 100%. Careful handling that sensor.

before you remove it, measure how far it is from the TB..... i've heard before that putting it farther down or higher up can affect it a bit...... not 100% sure though.... just would do it to be safe
