Canada Sticky brakes

1988 Corrolla, sedan. Pressure building up behind brake pedal. Extra pressure in brakes is spiratic but is more often there than not. Have replaced master cylinder, front brake lines (rubber section), and one front cylinder with no difference to problem. Pressure is so much sometimes the brakes are dragging while I drive (alot) The pressure is even to all brakes (the car does not pull to side or front/back when brakes are draging). The only thing I have not replaced is the rubber lines at the back drums. Any suggestions????

at wits end,

rob

It seems that you have a stuck up front calipers. remove the front tires and carefully remove the brake lines behind the front calipers. make sure you tie it with the end of the line facing upward. this shoudl prevent the fluid from spilling. unscrew the bolts (8mm) holding the caliper from the rear and pry the calipers loose. Take off the brake pads and look at the pistons. chances are they are already rusty. you just need a very fine sand paper and sand off the rust and wash it. dry the pistons and lube it using brake fluid.

you will need a caliper repair kit because if you open your calipers, the rubber fittings would have to go and you have to use new ones.

reverse everything to put it back and don't forget to bleed your system for possible air pockets on your brake lines.

I have already replaced one front caliper but that wasn't the problem. The calipers aren't sticking. The increased pressure comes and goes, its not there all the time.
