i spotted a thread that said the corolla 93-97 are not fast no matter what you do to it. i mean i have a 7- afe celica engine swap, greddy Emanage fuel computer, cai, iridiums, yashihama (jdm) front and rear strut bars, custom headers and complete REAL japanese cat back as far as suspension eibach sportlines 1.9 drop in the front 2.2 in the rear on tokico struts. my car is farely decent i mean i street raced a few civics and one 240sx and destroyed them all. anyone think the mods are a waste of time?
my uncle is a mechanic, engine had one owner, treated better than donald trumps wife, oil changes maintenance and evrything on time and it was free why not?
I'm really suprised at how well my little 95 7A-FE auto handles in stock trim, and for a slushbox it really seems to have a suprising bit of torque on the get go. ...I figure with a manual tranny swap and some suspension work it'd be a nice little touge runner or autox'er.

i gotta corolla myself and its true, they wont be fast watever you do to it
check August 2004 issue of Super Street and check out the green 72 rolla running a 3SG motor... i bet even the DC5 RSX (ITR in the US) won't stand a chance...
btw, i just smoked a black SiR with a fart can on my way to work last night with a 5A carbed engine...
haha cool...a 15.7 1/4miler is FAST if compared to other cars in your 4cyl class...too bad it'll take another 50-80hp to bring it down to low 14s
Big Nasty, i was damm wrong! 280whp on that thing must be monstrous...now think if the 15+Gs spent on that car's performance went into a bigger engine...
man, racing corollas vs civics and 240s is not street racing...your only causing old people to get mad 'cause your blocking the way
hehe j/k, i gotta corolla myself and its true, they wont be fast watever you do to it. My .02...if its free THEN its another story
But my daily driver is a dynoed 237whp '99 Acura Tl ~ 13.92 1/4 miler
Not true... They can be fast if you have enough cash. 93-97's have quite a bit of potential waiting to come out... all you need is enough money to do a swap and a rebuild. Stick a T03/04 hybrid turbo on them and you can push 300bhp, easy.
As for them getting no respect, not true either. Do a swap to say even a 20vGE or a 16vGZE and as soon as you show them whats under the hood, they all say "wow, that is pretty good for a corolla". Start the thing up and let the 2 1/4" Full flow and quad throttles (on the 20v) do the talking, then their tune changes to "wow, that sounds awesome!". Smoke their non-turbo Skyline, Lancer or Turbo Pulsar-Exa (Three of my conquests) and they start asking where they can get one and how much cost/trouble it would be to put one in their car.
All you need to do is go out, make yourself a respectable corolla, and show it to the people, cause as a stock car, the 93-97 gets no respect. Only really cause Toyotas age demographic has for quite a while been the 30-60yr bracket. All it is is there is not too many young people bying and respecting them yet.

anyhows, for the money you'd be spending in the car and in the engine you are definetly much better buying a nissan or a dodge or an acura/honda and you will 1) have a much faster car and 2) it'll look a lot better...but, the engine (ex acura/honda) wont take as much beating as the all-famous toyota engines 4 life.
Until I got my XRSi drove an all trac. Yes I'll admit that until I got this car, I gave you no love at all. Mainly because I was like your cooler brother, but still at the same time I was merely just a middle child to the supra . It's different now, I've grown up a bit and I give love to all in the Yotoya, yes I spelled it that way on purpose, family. Everyone just gives the corolla crap because it is such a stable car and it just has a reputation from its early models as merely a machine to go from point A to B with no bells and whistles. It's not so bad though, The look on peoples faces as I blow by them in lift in my "boring little econobox of junk" is something that never gets old.
