I just installed a remote start/keyless entry in a 2003 Corolla. The remote start works great, but the door locks no longer work. I hooked the locks back up as how they came from the factory, but they still don't work. The switches in the car don't do anything, and the keyfob doesn't do anything. The panic button doesn't even do anything. I metered the wires for the door lock/unlock and the door lock motors and they are all getting power. The voltage on the lock and unlock wire's changes when pressing the lock/unlock button in the car, so a signal is getting there. Fuse is all good. Anyone know what the hell I did, and how to fix it? Thanks.
Does by chance your car have an imobilizer? uif it does and you had to cut the key and leave it inside the column to read the transpionder, it could be that the computer is reading that and thinking your keys are in the car and stoping the doors from locking, Safety feature built in so you can't lock the keys in the car. Other wise I have no clue, and agree with hatch you should always have something like that professionally installed. caus eif there is a problem now, your warranty may not cover you because you altered the vehicle without having a professional install.
^^ I dont belive any 03 Corolla besides the LE had an imobilizer, not saying he doesnt have one, just the likely hood is less. Also you should never leave it inside the column, but put it inside the bypass module which will only activate it when required.
I know that only the LE had imobilizer in 03, but he may have an LE. that is what I was asking. And depending on the starter he bought it may not have a by-pass module, if he did a self install to save money may have also gone to a cheaper starter to save money, upon which if that is the case then it needs to go in the coloumn. so the signal can be read.
I was under the impression that the 03 Corrolla had NO immobilizer. At least, that's what the REP at DEI told me. It is an LE model however.... The remote starter is wired into the column... but this makes sense if it DOES have an immobilizer... anywhere I can verify this?
In 2003 the only corolla that had an imobilizer was the LE in 'B' Package, which included the leather, Side Air Bags, Moon Roof, Fogs, and Security system, as well as a few assorted non important toys, the security system included an imobilizer. you can tell by the thickness of your key, also if you have it there should be a flashing light on the dash on the left hand side of the steering column that says security. If you are hooked directly to the column and have an imobilizer that is probally your problem. I would check there first.
