Angry Reset Maintenance Required Light, now have 3600 extra miles on ODO!!!!

Here is my story, someone please help. I recently attmepted to reset the Maintenance Required light in my 2005 Toyota Corolla. I followed all the steps necessary, but didn't realize until after that I was not supposed to actually start the car, just put the key to ON. Anyway, after the light went off and the odometer reset, I had 3,500 more miles on my odometer than before doing this. I made sure I wasn't crazy and wasn't looking at the Trip counters. I contacted everyone I could, including Toyota themselves and no one seems to have any idea how 3,500 miles were added to the odometer. What happened????

please help!!!

thanks

I got the light off, but the miles were still added. I don't know if there is another reste to bring the mileage back to where it was before. Toyota told me that there is absolutley no way to change mileage on these new odometers, I told them, "Well I did it!!!" and I don't have much of a clue about cars.

Ive never heard of anything like that happening before. While your resetting the maintanence light it really dosent make any difference if you start the car by mistake.

Where did you get your resale value from...KBB? ..Your car must be in excellent shape and loaded with features to be quoted at that price being 9 years old and 152k, you'll be stretching it to get that much from a private buyer(great for you if you can) and much less if its a trade in...JMHO....Radd Guy
