I have the same problem with my 98 with 140K miles. Just stay of the accelerator as much on the starts and softer on the brakes. You should see more of a mpg raise by relaxing these two pedals.

Not true.. I do anywhere from 120kmh to 140kmh on the highway and still manage to get 500km out of a 40L tank. I would say do a tune up, change your fuel filter.

thanks i got that mileage thing under control, got the struts and the plug change and the shop i went to tried to rip me off saying i needed new fuel lines because the were pinched, but i got that straight and my cash back. i did have two question though.

1. will taking apart the engine and cleaning ang lubing proper part help any? my uncle said it will help the engine last longer and its free!!!

2. last two tanks i've been using octane 93 gas (cito or 7eleven) and i notice i don't get as good gas mileage as octane87, the only difference i notice it runs and idles smoother with the 93. any thoughts on that? octane 87give me 28-32mpg and 93 give 24-28mpg. as you can tell i know little about cars just the basic oil, filters, hose and coolant changes. thanks for your help
