USA 1992 Corolla engine swap???

Hi there someone, anyone.... so, I blew the engine in my 1992 Corolla (standard POS 1.6 l), and was thinking about swapping it out for one with more performance and modifiblity (that's my own word). if anyone could direct me to any possibilities, I would much appriciate the info. I was thinking of a twin-cam from a '91 GTS, but I don't know if it will fit... any ideas?

Your car has a 4AFE in it.. The twincam 4AGE from 88-91 GTS will fit.. there's 2 4AGE's in those years.. 88-89 GTS's came with a TVIS 4AGE, good for 120hp. the 90-91 GTS's came with a non-TVIS 4AGE, good for 130hp.

You can also fit any JDM 4AGE's so that gives you the option of installing either a 20V (not 16V ) Silvertop 4AGE (92-95) good for about 160hp. Or a Blacktop 20V 4AGE, which is good for about 170hp.

One more option would be a Supercharged 4AGZE from the japanese AE92 Sprinter Trueno and Corolla Levin GTZ twins (see pic in my signature) 88-89 the 4AGZE was good for 145hp, and from 90-92 (can't remember) the 4AGZE was good for 170hp. The 4AGZE was also found on the Supercharged AW11 MR2's in the same years.

Any swap you do will require you to have all neccessary hardware: Motor, transmission, wiring harness, and of course computer. Some motors will require their own motor mounts since the one in your car might not fit properly.
