A buddy of mine just told me about an article he just read in the October 2001 issue of Car & Driver magazine. There is an article about the soon to be released Pontiac Vibe and the Toyota Matrix. The article which is devoted to the Vibe makes mention that GM will off a supercharger kit for the base engine (1ZZ-FE) within 12 months of the vehicle's introduction. I don't know if this will be a TRD piece, (re-badged with the AC-Delco nameplate) but it would be logical to assume so. Even if it is a GM exclusive piece, since it will bolt on to any 1ZZ-FE, Corolla owners can rejoice. Here's the quote....
"GM is using the Vibe as a spearhead into the small-car aftermarket. Within 12 months it expects to have a full catalog of accessories that include a dealer-installed supercharger kit. The blower is expected to raise the power of the base engine to the GT's 180 horsepower and top it off with a more substantial increase in torque."

I think it will be all-right if TRD takes control and is the one researching, tuning & manufacturing it. If it is strictly a GM AC Delco made unit, I think I may stay away!!
I only trust TRD Japan, TRD USA needs to hire some better QC.

I'm somewhat skeptical though. A problem that the supercharged 1zz may get is the fuel injection system. I hope that the supercharger comes with brand new ECU and fuel system.
Well this S/C will be manufactured by a autorised Eaton/ Roots manufaturer(that eliminates AC delco)I think it will be made by Magnusen like my s/c, at the moment GM and Toyota already deal with them for many of there s/c, so im sure they will stick to them for making this unit.Magnusen already build 10 000 unites just for GM so im sure they can build more for future cars.
