Question 4af efi to carb head swap???

just bought an 89 corolla with a hole in block, it is carburated, the motor i bought has fuel injection. do i have to change the whole head, or is there some way to plug the fuel injection holes in head & run a inline fuel pump? i'm at a standstill on this project & now wondering if i wasted my money on the fuel injected motor, which i did get to hear run. it sounded good, and i thought i could just drop in in & go, but noooooo......... the manifolds seem to be the same & i'd sure like to avoid changing the head if possible. any help is appreciated. thanks,

if the hole is in the block, swap in the block and lowers into your engine and put the old head on the new block.

Sounds like you have it figured out by just putting your accessories onto the new motor, and using a different fuel pump. Make sure the new fuel pump is self-regulated to work with your carb.
The injector holes can be tapped, plugged off. A tap should cost around 8$, drill bit $3 the plugs, maybe $2. Or if you don't want to do it yourself, an automotive machine shop should be able and do that.
Might want to change/inspect the timing belt before you install the engine.

wouldn't the cheapest way to do that just to buy a set of plugs and put them in the hole lol

well... what plugs are gonna work there, not many. thread them and maybe put bolts, or have them welded shut, something that wont jump out, because if they do, oh man its gonna instantly go super lean.

I meant a set of spark plugs for the holes, we know they don't pop out and the hole was designed for that <shrugs> like $2 a plug

and I wonder how you'd get the sparkplugs to plug the hole and WHY sparkplugs in the first place. The holes for the injectors arent threaded, injectors are just placed there loosely and you tighten them with the fuel rail.
