unfortunately i'm on somewhat of a limited time frame... that's why i'd prefer to get the front clip so i don't have to go searching around for everything i need
well..... if that's the case then all you need to do is collect the parts before you do the swap...... essentially (even though my mr2 didn't have an engine) i waited for pretty much everything to be here and ready to go before i did the swap..... only real issues i ran into was getting the modified crank pulley (for the distributorless ignition) back onto the motor with the motor in the bay, having to rebuild an axle (for the first time.... took about 12 hours..... first 9-10 i had no idea what i was doing which is why it took so long), and figuring the wiring out...... but really, once i had the parts i really only put about 20-30 hjours into installing the parts and wiring megasquirt up.... and having it fire up

whoa...sorry toyotaspeed90....i was just joking and i am sure everybody was too...
really man...i don't want to get on your bad side...i also plan to do the gze swap in a year or less.
i know...... i just don't like it when people on here give ridiculous prices who haven't done the work to their car and are just guessing.... along with i have pretty strong morals against stealing and being responsible..... especially since lately my ae92 has been involved in 2 hit and runs when my car was parked.....
don't worry, i just get offended in a short period

Cut harness and no ecu.. no wonder. Why bother when you could get a complete GZE for about $1500-2000 CDN.
yet again... coming from someone who hasn't done the work :-p
i'm currently helping a local with a silvertop 20V swap into his mr2..... he had a complete cut.... it cost him way too much, he threw a lot away that wasn't needed (and if you don't have a good place to get rid of, you get to pay to dispose of it), and we're wiring it almost the exact same way we did my car.... which means 1/2 the harness gets cut off anyways..
there really isn't much to a harness...... i've ripped apart quite a few & they're all straight forward
and my standalone was $200 plus about $15 in junkyard parts to fabricate the distributorless ignition and there actually is LESS wiring involved.... so overall.....

I agree that the whole "you have to get a half cut!" thing is overdone. Sometimes, yeah, but not always.
i could possibly see it with the blacktop..... since generally you CAN NOT find the ecu and map sensors for a good price seperated from the motor.... unlike the silvertop or gze if you necessarily need the stock ecu
also, the blacktop actually uses vvti, which it quite a bit more entailed than just the simple switch vvt that the silvertop has and lack of any vvt that the gze's have
