Talking What the XRS needs.

I really like my XRS, better than my 04 Solara V6 Sport that I traded for it. But I have 3 things I would llike to change that would make the car much better.

1. Lower the RPM that "lift " occurs to about 5800 or even 5500.

2. Raise the rev limiter to 9000, it's pulling way to hard when it hits the limiter now.

3. Lower gear ratio

#3 is out of the question money wise

1&2 are easy- use the Lotus version of the engine management computer. Are there any flashed units available?

With 1 & 2 the car would be an "easy" 6 sec 0-60 car. As is it takes too long to get on lift and it drops out between shifts.

if you use the lotus ecu, you are also going to have to change the injectors and some other minor stuff; CAI, header, exhaust, etc....

If you are interested I can import a piggyback computer from japan for that engine....works like a charm....and if you hurry I can throw it in a car that i have coming over for cheap shipping.

The Xrs has to be a pretty rare car in Hawaii. Did you buy it off the lot or did they have to order one special for you?

I agree with you, the redline does seem low for what the engine can do. I would like lift to hit earlier, but as it is I am getting horrible gas mileage playing around in the lift that the XRS does have.

those "points" are set there for a reason, it revs to like 8800 or something... how much more do you want? Also, its still a family car with 4 doors, what did you think you bought? Buy a real sports car if you want to bitch about stock settings

I've heard of some of the Celica guys being able to keep the car in lift between shifts. Personally I've never seen it.

Staying in lift is easy, just raise your limiter to 9k.

they can stay in lift between shifts because they engage lift at a lower RPM than the XRS does.

djwolford,

"Staying in lift is easy, just raise your limiter to 9k"
How do you do that? And where did you get your intake? Is it made for the XRS or did you have to mod a Matrix or Corolla S version?

And for polo708
What crawled up you fat A@#?
I'm not bitching about anything. If you don't have anything constructive to say, SHUT THE F#$K UP!
And for you feeble mind, the rev limiter comes on a 8400.

The Dastek unichip is supposed to allow you to raise your limiter from what I hear, but I don't know for sure. The intake is for an 04+ Matrix Xrs, everything bolted up fine. I've been meaning to put up pictures of it forever now, but I procrastinate.....meh.

Wow, do you talk to your boyfriend with that mouth? "I'm not bitching about anything"... well, it sure sounds like bitching to me. My god, Its called a forum. Thats what we do here. Someone like you write a stupid post and others come in an comment, good or bad.

Feeble mind?? you're the one asking about raising the rev limiter on a STOCK , 15 second, 4-door, family sedan. If there was power to gain up there without possible engine damage then i'm sure Toyota would have designed it that way. Too bad you weren't there during the engine design to catch that mistake.

Wow, 8400... I can add that to my list of useless crap that I still dont care about. If I really cared what it was then I would have looked it up. Hence why I dont know.

Why wouldnt he want to keep lift engaged during shifts? Its the most common drivetrain complaint Car mags have about the car, its ok if you dont know what you're talking about, but dont dig the hole deeper trying to prove otherwise.

" well, it sure sounds like bitching to me" well with your head stuck up your a@$ I don't see how you can HEAR anything.

What makes you the judge of what's a stupid post? If I want to know how to make MY car run better, that's my business. If as@holes like you don't have any advice, other than how to run off at the mouth, then you should just keep it shut.

Also, if it's a stupid for me or the other XRS owners to want to make our cars run better, then how stupid is it for you to stick a SC on an 18sec car to get it to run 17secs? I bet you also have nitros on it too. Sound like someone compensating for their own lack of equipment.
