Conversion from 4-5 Lug?

Is there a kit available, or does anyone know the ad/disadvantages to conversion?

There isn't a kit. Advantages? I don't know... attracts more chicks?

Anyways, you can either just have your stock hubs redrilled with a 5-lug pattern and put in new lug studs, or swap the hub itself with a 5-lug unit. I personally used the 5-lug hub from an '03 Matrix, along with the bigger brakes and rotor, but that's just because I had one available to me and I wanted to use the stronger Matrix outer CV joint. I had to machine the hub diameter (where it goes into the bearing) down about 2 mm, and make a little spacer so it looked just like the stock unit.

Now that's the front, for the back, I'm still working on that, along with the rear disk conversion.

Yes either teh 98 99 or 00 actually. i havent decided which one, and since they are all so damn close together (they all look the same outside) it really does not matter!!! I hear they cause a lot of stress on the axle and and all that good stuff... may be more bad than good? i actually wanted to jack it up a good two or three feet (since i am an oklahoma hillbilly still at heart)

people told me about the ae100 from japan to swap straight from it
i saw one on ebay starting at 600$us
but i would rather get all new stuff instead of used stuff from japan
i dunno, it would need all parts number, etc...
so i dunno what i'll do. i'll see this summer!

Cabanon - just get the used stuff from japan and get a new bearing pressed in locally if theres any play in it. The bearing is the only part that wears out.

Biggest advantage is having more wheel choices to choose from really. But even then, because your stock lug pattern is 4x100, it's not exactly a small selection to start out with.

I have been thinking of something similar to this.

For Ice racing we tractionize our tires for better grip. The problem: The alltrac is unable to tractionize them with out burning out the front LSD or the visciuf(sp?) cup.

If we could do them on the corolla it would be much easier but the 4x100 and 5x100 bolt patterns don’t fit. I designed a two piece adapter but not having access to machines to make it is a problem and the cost to have it made is too high.

Question: Does any one know if there is a quick and cheap way of dealing with this?? Like a hub with 5x100 pattern that will directly bolt on our 89 SR5?

Any help would be appreciated.
Dave

P.S. it will only be used for short periods and Not be driven on.
