What is ignition rotor?

I try look in forum for my question. I don't understand cars. I have 1986 Corolla with starting problem. My mechanic says I need replace ignition rotor. I hear no such thing before. Is this same as distributor rotor? Thank You, Kavva

If you take off the distibutor cap, you'll see this little doohickey attached that looks like an arm with a metal ) on the end. That's the rotor. It transfers voltage from the coil to the appropriate post on the cap.
