Tokico High Performance (HP) shocks for 93-97

hi,

Have anybody tried this set of shocks on 93-97 corollas? I'm quite interested in it. According to the description on http://www.tokicogasshocks.com , HP series seems more suitable for lowering springs than KYB GR-2.

To the best of my memory, HP series are said to be good for lowering springs on some websites. But I'd like to use it with OE springs. There is no indication as to what the stroke travel range is. I know some aftermarket performance shocks have shortened rods in anticipation of lowering springs.

I happened to find tokico HP on ebay. If it is a better choice than GR-2, I wonder there are not many people mentioning it.

People go with KYB because it is cheaper. Most people that I know who want a stiffer ride go with Tokico. Technically both the KYB GR2s and the Tokico HPs are direct replacemetns for OEM struts. Neither one is a short stroke shock as far as I know. Infact I remember Bluemeanie saying that Tociko told him the HPs could wear prematurely if used with lowering springs.

Please read http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/car/performance.html

The chart on that page seem to suggest the damping (in the case of VW Golf, rebound damping) is significantly increased, twice as strong as the OE shock.

In addition, I just found that Tokico has shock/spring kits for some cars, like this http://store.racinglab.com/to00cetohpnp.html
The springs in the kits are lowering springs. The HP shocks seem to have taken lowering springs into consideration.

make sure that if you are using short stroke springs you use short stroke struts or they can blow easily.
