Had a special request for a 200 amp alternator this week and took some pictures to share. Unfortunately I can't share the pictures of how this is built.
The car as it came in...
The original alternator in place..
The much larger delco....
While it was cold we got to see 261 amps but as I said, cold. After letting the car warm to operating temperature with the stereo at mid thump(2000 watts) since starting we went for a few load tests. This is a picture of the average results, warm.....
To get the belt to fit, be aligned and running the proper speed to charge 100 amps at idle warm. Make brackets, run wires, mount an external adjustable regulator(*) and make it all work as if it was stock took 9 straight hours of 2 techs. U2U me for details if you'd like to have one done for your car.
(*) The adjustable regulator is a heavy duty version stronger than common regulators found in parts stores. However, should it fail one that fits a 1977 ford truck will get you home. All internal parts are available for rebuild at most any rebuilder in your area.
