I've invested a lot of time and parts into this little giant killer. It phenominal in the snow, and very well balanced.
I built it a year and a half ago, and just wanted to let you guys know about it in case anyone is looking for a rare little car with a 4AG. I'm selling it, just wanted to make sure the corolla guys get to see this I REALLY WANT IT TO GO TO A GOOD HOME!!
i'm loving it, man, if only i were in ottawa, i'd come take a look, i wanted to do that kind of swap on an ae92 sedan as well, but where to find the 4wd

any issues we should know of? I'm interested and I think many others are.. but with this type of swap.. I would imagine some issues.. not the 4AGE swap itself.. but the AWD swap I would believe.
Get us more pics man.. I wanna see interior and undercarriage pics.
Nice car. So that has a 9.5:1 compression engine with the TVIS right? I looked at the 4WD Corolla sedans new in '89 but went for a Corolla GT-S. I had that little jewel for 14 years before I wrote it off. Jeez, if I didn't have to buy a frigging new furnace this week I'd be planning a little trip to Ottawa... Does it use any oil? What shape are the fender lips in? Clutch disk, clutch master & slave cylinders? Electrical gremlins? Brakes (front disk rear drums right?)
When I was in Bali a bunch of years ago I was picked up from the airport and driven to our hotel in an '89 Corolla GT-S sedan. It had the 4AGE, 4-wheel disk brakes and the alloys, small bumpers, RHD, no headrests, those Twin Cam 16 decals on the doors, rear spoiler, full gauges and the dual outlet muffler.
Best of luck selling. Like you I hope it goes to a good home.
I saw that car some time ago, at least a year online somewhere. Def. got some love for it. I couldn't bring myself to just buy it all done though... it's on the list of swaps to be done.
I hope you can get what you want for it, and I hope that it goes to someone who will appreciate it!
Hey cam!! long time no see!! you missed it man.. there was a 90 corolla GTS for sale in Ottawa about 2 months ago, I saw it on trader.ca.. the car had 114,000km's and the owner wanted only $3500. Unfortunately I lost the paper where I wrote the number.. and on top of that I couldn't remember what your name was on here, so I never got to msg you.
I kinda wanted the car too.. if it didn't sell, it'll probably go back on trader.ca so I'll be on the lookout.
There's someone that might be selling their 90 GTS soon, he just posted on the For Sale forums.. but he hasn't given a price yet. You should check it out.
ahh!!, i want that car so bad..brings back memories of when my dad had one that was the exact same color and was 4wd, it had a 4afe in it and it was tough as nails, he bought it with around 240,000km and ran it to 500,000km and only had to replace the head gasket!
wonder how hard it is to find that 4age in Nova Scotia and how hard it is to swap, in my AE92 sedan that currently has a 4af??
No but gearbox issues yes, the 4WD gearbox is alot more fragile than the 2WD one, it cant handle torque as well.
Funny, they said the same thing about the C52 being mated to the GZE. So long as you're not launching at peak torque with sticky tires....everything will be fine.
Like it was said, you're not going to break parts on a Toyota unless it is worn out, or if you are launching like a crazyman with sticky tires. 100 lbs./ft. @ 4800 rpm isn't exactly going to rotate the world on it's axis.
Ren, I tried to PM you yesterday but it didn't fly. I will try again just so you know.
whats your problem? didnt get laid last night or something? The transaxle system on the 4WD gearbox can easily be broken, doenst take much of a launch to do it, especially if you've swapped in a GZE.
