questions about 2003 corolla S

I am a newb here so I dont know if anyone has posted the two questions I am about to ask.

My first problem is with the heating/air condition system. For some reason, whenever I turn on the air conditioning and/or heat, I get this weird smell. It smells like rotten eggs. It happens for like a few seconds and then its gone. When I turn on the the heat / a/c, it starts to smell like a minute later. The same thing happens on my friends 2003 corolla LE. Does anyone know what causes this problem and how I would go about fixing it?

Next question...is it possible to put Scion tC performance parts on a 2003 corolla? I saw some performance parts in magazines that are on the tC and didnt know if they would fit on my corolla so I thought i'd ask.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the rotten eggs smell is caused by the exhaust fumes. there is a tsb out that you may qualify for to fix. toyota blames it on excess sulphur in the gas. but if you qualify for the repairs they'll replace your cat and modify your ecu.

scion parts will not fit the corolla. except for wheels they use the same bolt pattern

I took my car to Downtown Toyota in Toronto for them to check my car. Even though my case still has the rotten eggs smell, they refused to fix the problem for me. What should I do?

there is a recall for it, the dealership HAS TO FIX IT. If they tell you no then take it to the manager there. It's a defect that is totally covered by them. You shouldn't have to pay a dime.

I have a 03-S and had that rotten egg smell for the first few 1000 miles then it just dissapeared...At 40K now and it has never returned...I bought 95% of my gas at the same place for the last 3 years...Radd Guy...

According to them, they dont have that recall listed. They claim Toyota Canada knows nothing about it and has not sent them anything about any recalls.

My car has like 20k clicks on it now and still has the smell. The dealership told me to use another brand of gas and a different grade but its still the same.

Any other suggestions on what I should do? My 02' Camry also has the same rotten egg smell.

How can you say its your exhaust fumes How can a strong rotten egg smell get into your car with all the windows closed If that's the case then all of us who have had that smell should suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning in time because according to you were all inhaling exhaust fumes...lol...If you know there's a recall how about sharing that info/article/whatever other then just telling us what you have heard/think because my dealer and Sick-boi's says there isn't one ...thanks... Radd Guy
