corolla drifting

The other day coming home from haning out I almost ran over a cat I instinctively braked and e-braked to dodge the cat.The car swerved a little , so is it possible to drift in a 2000 corolla.

if you define it as sliding through a turn; yes. you can even plow through a turn with no front wheel traction and call it drifting if you want.

The non-sarcastic reply would be... no, no you can't.

...

The reason you say it's possible for a 2000 Corolla to drift is because you almost ran over a cat and you swerved a little.

...

Also, what is with this instinctive e-braking? Instinctively right foot goes down on middle pedal to make car stop. Instints don't tell you to do stupid unnatural things. If there was a tree next to the cat, your e wouldn't save you like the brakes would.

You lock the rear wheels with anything that moves and it will swerve. If that's your definition of drifting, those truckers when they get into big accidents and slide sideways down the freeway are 0wnaGez drifters that could own Takumi in the face.

Sorry my friend, Initial D has gotten the best of everybody, directly or indirectly.

I see a cat on the road.. my instinct usually tells me... "There's no way in hell you gonna swerve, smash into a lightpost and kill yourself for a cat! so step on the gas homeboy!!" then again.. that's my instinct.

I agree with Ren69. My Driving school Teacher Said it's better to Run Over the Animal then it is to Swerve and IT another car or pole! One of my friends had the same Driving School Teacher and there was a Goose on the Road and she was about to swerve, But my driving school teacher held the wheel and ran it over. HE says its the smart thing to do. If an animal is stupid to go on the road then it is the animals fault. Not yours for driving!

FF drifting is very controversal if you can't tell already. Either way wether you drive an FF, FR, or AWD you're still sliding sideways when you "drift" so the best way around this arguement is to say you "slid" out of the way.

One time myself I almost got into an accident with a dumb@$$ blonde in a full family sedan and a Bronco. Stupid b**ch hesitated halfway out into the road as I sped up to pass another high riding trucks (F**KING TRUCKS I HATE'EM! ). Instinctively when I saw it I slammed the brakes. However crappy tires = sh**ty traction and I just knew I would collide with the sedan so something clicked: smash da gas and unleash them mad cornering skills! Next thing I know I'm lucky enough that I slowed down just enough to get the tires to grip allowing me to swerve (thank god I rotated the tires a few days before) around the sedan and managed to whip out the back end because of even crappier rear tires. Needless to say it scared the crap out of me but I slid between the front end of the sedan and the Bronco by rocking the car back and forth narrowly escaping an accident. As an added bonus I scared the sh** out of the woman in the sedan and the guy in the bronco (I had pulled over immidately to check for damages to my car and saw the two peel out the get the hell out of there ).

What if the stupid animal is a human? I've had several stupid humans walk into the path.

Another one, we have sea turtle crossings here. You hot one of those and get reported you can look for a massive fine, thousands of dollars. Here's one more, say I'm walking my dog and he slips onto the edge of the road. If you had the chance of avoiding him but choose to run him over instead you better duck. I'll be holding that handgun that was in my pocket, and firing.
Agreed there are times you simply can't avoid the animal without seriously endangering yourself or others.

I ment hitting the animal within reason! If it was a cow, kangaroo, moose, Deer I think you would want to try and avoid it. Also I Didn't mean a human. I was refering to Small Stuff, Seagulls, Squirls, skunks, Cats, Rats.... A Goose... The Annoying animals that raid your trash cans and make a mess in your yard or when they shit on your car.

Dude, if someone had the choice between hitting your dog and not hitting your dog, they would choose not to. But when you're driving, the choices aren't that simple and you know that. People could risk their lives and their children's lives and possibly the lives of others because you allowed your dog "slip" onto the edge of the road, right into danger. Maybe you should take better care of your dog if you care so much about it. I didn't know people were so crazy as to keep handguns on them when walking their dog to shoot up anybody that they allow to hit their dog.

How could you tell the difference between them not trying to avoid your dog and trying to be safe and keep others safe? It is obvious that no one would hit it intentionally. And there you'd be firing at a mother and children because you THINK that they hit it on purpose. Jeez guy.

Also, I would like to think

Stupid Human > Stupid Animal

I just don't get this handgun and shooting culture and people always talking about firing at other people. It already happens everyday, people just like adding to the death count.
