Canada 2002 Corolla turns over and stalls

I have a 2002 Corolla Ce Plus and during cold morning the engine turns over and stalls and i have to turn it over again. It only happens in the mornings when it is cold. I did put fuel injector
cleaner in about 2 tanks ago to see if that will clear up the problem. I am also wondering if it might be the oil since it is soon time to get an oil Change.

If it only does it once maybe twice, I have the same problem on my 00 Corolla. I consider it normal. If it happens more than that...??

Have you guys done a tune up in your cars yet?? like plugs, wires, cap & rotor, air filter, fuel filter, all this stuff would have a lot to do if your car keeps doing this.

Also have you ever considered that maybe its just weather related?? My car does this sometimes too.. mind you my car is an 89 with almost 340,000km's on it... but it still starts like a pro on -30C temps.

I could also see your original concern about the oil, maybe your car is very low on oil and this is him telling you.. I need some oil man! I'm metal to metal over here!

I'd have to agree with Ren69, when was the last time you did a tune up? Cause if you hvaen't ever done one thats a partial sign that you will be needing one. But besides that how much gas is in your tank when this happens? It could also be the quality of gas you have in the tank at the moment, I remember when use to have my 97 I filled up at some no name station out in the middle of nowhere and my car ran like crap for a week until I used it up.

The plugs are rated at 100K miles ( I would not run them that long ) and starting in 00 the Wires/Cap/Rotor are no longer used. Fuel filter is in the tank.

I was just trying to see how many times it dies before running, 1 or 2 times considering the location would really not be out of line. Even when warm mine will not stay running each time started. It has had all the maintenance items.

Just took the Corolla in for an oil change and Tranmission flush
They found out that my water pump was leaking so that might be causing the stalling problem. They could not find anything else wrong with the car.
I did buy some fuel injector cleaner from Toyota and put some Shell Optimax gold in the tank so that should make it better. It all ready runs smoother.

I have the SAME problem..

idles low too ..

I use octane 89 (petro can)

changed spark plugs, cleaned throttle body, changed air filter, nothing seems to be working.. even fuel injector cleaner, changing oil every 5000 km with mobil 1 5w30 synthetic oil..

61000 KM .. weirdd....

brought it into the dealership a few months ago.. they blamed it on my 'exhaust'

*update* I told them about my problem... they blamed it on the exhaust yet again.. saying my exhaust is the cause for the problem .. my engine has 61999 KM .. lol .. almost cracked 62000

got my oil changed and rad fluid done.. hopefully it's just the oil cause it was super dirty

What kind of fuel are you using? Corolla are designed for 87 octane. No need to use 89 or above.

I was using 87 for a while.. just checking 89 to see if it will fix the problem.. it hasn't..

seems like it runs better after I disconnect the battery.. and reconnect it.. but after the first start it's the same over again..

Try buying Fuel injector Cleaner from Toyota and putting in 91 in the car for a couple of tanks that might clean it out or it might not.

I had already tried fuel injector cleaner.. seems to run better now that I drove it to scarborough and back.. but in a few days I know it'll run bad again.
