As far as I know.. the only one they recommend 91+ octane fuel is the for the Corolla XRS. The other corollas will do fine on regular fuel.

a stock S is made to run off of 87/89 octane... you are just wasting money.

87/89/91

I live i nny were we have ethanol in our gase and also even worse in the winter.

If you live in ny by the city or long island i would say just get 89 but i dont know how our gas compares to another states. Gas here is at least 20 cents more than other states because of our gas.

I did notice better performance with 89 than 87. Havent tried 91

Polo is right. The Corolla is designed for 87 octane. They stressed that when I bought mine. Don't waste money on 89 or 91. Go with what the car was designed for. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that 91 octane is only for high performance cars. Although I'm sure that some cars run better using 91.

From 05 Corolla manual:

2ZZ GE (XRS) - Minimum Octane 91 (Research Octane No. 96) or higher
1ZZ GE - Recommended Octane 87/89

You will not get any benefits from Octane 91 on your S so use Octane 87 or 89 since that is what the car is built to run on.
