4ag into SR5 ae92

So i've searched around a few threads:
http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t25937.html

and i've looked through a few websites
www.ae92gts.com
and others

I want to put in a 4ag engine in the sr5. The thread above talks more about retaining the carb setup. I'm going from a 4af to a 4ag. Goal of 130-150hp to the wheels, daily driven, occasional autox, and NOS. Yes NOS, maybe a 25 shot. Money is not really an issue since it's more of a long term project. However, it still needs to reasonable.

Getting the 4age (silvertop, 20v) is not a problem, and I have some engine knowledge (3sgte engine swaps in mr2's) so install won't be too much of a problem, I hope.

Suspension wise, can I just upgrade my shocks, spring, and sways, or do I have to get into suspension components such as control arms and such?

How much horsepower can the sr5 auto trans hold? If I have to swap for manual transmission, what transmissions fit in the sr5 without modifying the tunnel? I've already done a few auto to manual swaps for mr2s.

My main concern is the fuel system? What will have to be done since i'm going from carb to efi? I've read somewhere about installing an intank fuel pump. Any more details on this?

Thanks in advance.

If you're going to do that swap, then do the auto/manual conversion. The 20v 4AGE usually comes with a tranny and it will bolt right up. It's FWD so there is no tunnel to modify, LOL.

If you're going from carb to efi, then the best thing to do would be to get a fuel tank with the intank pump from a AE92 that is EFI.

(I thought that all AE92s were EFI... they have either the 4AFE or the 4AGE (GTS), don't they?)

The ae92 also had the 4af without the e, carb version with a whopping 90 @ 6000 rpm

Niiice... those are engines are TEH!

Anyways, you'll want the tank and fuel lines, plus the regulator and all that stuff from a 4AFE or 4AGE AE92.

Any other components of the fuel system needed?
How much hp can the tranny hold?
What suspension parts do I need to accomodate the heavier engine?

it's probably less than a 50lb difference.... people on this site bitch and moan about the weight issues all the time and they are all wrong.....

my sr5 is a 90, so it was already efi... but i would imagine you would want the efi lines from an ae92 as well and an efi fuel filter.....

control arms are the same except a gts has tabs for a swaybar

150whp isn't going to be cheap on a 4ag.... can be done, but yeah

Yeah, I realize it's not going to be cheap or easy, but it's pretty much a project car. I'll look into those control arms so i can use a sway bar. At first I thought they were stronger than the SR5, thanks for the info.

So i'll need:
gts gas tank
fuel regulator
efi lines
efi fuel filter

Anything else?

the wiring for the engine, the ecu.... would be a good idea to find GTS gauges (all of them)

you'll also need a new exhaust, as the stock exhuast doesn't meet up with any 4age stuff...... if you keep it automatic then you'll need a 4age flexplate and torque convertor (4af and 4age are different.... i have a 4ag flexplate here)
