Will blacktop ECU and MAP sensor work with Silvertop 4age?
Hey guys...probably a very common question but im still in the dark about....will a 4age blacktop ECU and MAP sensor fit directly to a silvertop 4age. I would like to piss off the AFM and put individual filters on each throttle body. Thanks guys.
you would probably need the electronics for the BT ecu... but i don't see why it wouldn't work, the motors are very similar and should have very similar sensors.....

Yeah i guess, i just wanna see if the plugs are the same and stuff. Coz i know i would need to get the correct MAP sensor and connect that to the vacuum of the engine. Id love for someone to say....yeah can be done ....straight forward conversion Thanks
I would have to disagree... since the Silvertop 20V just have VVT, and the Blacktop have VVT-i, which means another set of code in the ECU for that information. This changes how the MAP would react without the intelligence part.
Out of curiousity, why would you want to do this?

most the guys that i've talked to needed to use a piggyback ecu to tune the motor after the swap. apparently the ST motor doesn't idle and rev as smoothly as when it's running on AFM. they got away by using SAFC. as far as the wiring, i think there's just a bit of modding needed on the ST harness to adapt to the BT ECU but it shouldn't be as hard.
just so you know, 3 of the guys that did this swap that i know, went back to AFM coz they're just not happy about the swap. they're using the cars for daily driving that's why. goodluck bro. i still haven't decided on what to do and all i'm missing to do this swap is time, hehehehe!

it doesn't matter.... without the constantly changing cam, all that will happen is that the map readings will be slightly different... but it really doesn't matter because a fuel map is based both on map reading and rpm.... it's a table, so for a given kpa and rpm, the computer sends a given amount of fuel efficiency based on the Volumetric Efficiency that's in that table..... meaning, without the vvti it really doesn't matter

I would like to do this not for a real performance upgrade but i would love to setup individual filters on each of the throttle bodies. Giving me a lot louder engine note after VVT has kicked in. Me and my mate removed the AFM and noticed a very large difference in noise. With it removed it sounded more like a b16a or other VTEC motor. So its more of an aesthetic change rather than performance change. :P Unless there is another way of getting the louder VVT noise with the AFM connected, please let me know. Cheers
I have a Silvertop that uses a Blacktop ECU and MAP sensor. Until the engine is warm, it misfires, but, it still seems to run well. This setup runs pretty rich too! Wiring to the ECU from the engine has to be changed but isn't really a big deal if you have electrical experience. I cut the off the connector for the AFM and used the remaining wires for the MAP sensor since there was already a '5V' and 'Sensor Ground' wire there. I only had to change one wire to feed the Map signal to the ECU.
Now that was what i was after Sounds awesome, yeah shouldnt find it too hard i study microelectronic engineering at university. Now i have to find a BT ECU and MAP sensor HAHA . Thanks heaps. Will let you know how it goes
