93 Corolla

My friend just gave me her 93 Corolla and I've been doing some work to it. I have a problem though. I am trying to take apart the driver door panel to fix the inside door handle, but I can't get it apart. I only see one screw, which is inside the door handle piece... but no others. I have gotten the clips apart all around the door panel, but I something is holding it on in the center. Anybody that can offer some help on this? Thanks to those that can.

Steve

On my mom's '92 Corolla, after you've unscrewed it, push the inner door handle forward to unlock it. The inner door panel will come loose. I hope it's the same with your '93.

You need to take the screws out from inside the arm rest type thing. It is located near the middle of the door. The reason to do this is that you need to unplug the switches. The mirrors and door lock switches that are located in the arm rest need to be unplugged. You have to kind of take that thing apart. Pull out the little holder type thing and you will see the screws. Hmmm, that may be only if you have power windows and power locks. If you don't, then i'm not sure what the problem is.

The armrest has to come off regardless.

It have power windows and locks. I have to look again, but when I first tried taking it off I couldn't find any screws in the armrest. I am assuming I'll have to use a flathead to pop the switch panel out from the armrest and then I'll find the screws...
