This may be too late of a reply but here goes anyway-
The corolla I think is a much better buy inside feels much bigger than both ther Nissan and Honda, though only slightly bigger than the Honda.
The 1.8 GXE has nothin on the Toyota for perfomance, and don't get me started on the Honda
I couldn't belive how slow and LOUD the Hondawas- There was this huge suspension CLUNK every time I went over a bump- and the 1-2 shift was ridiculous, the tranny just could get it right!
I have an 03 LE so My interior is definatley more refined than the Honda, and nissan isn't very good at interior (trust me on this one- I work at the nissan proving grounds in AZ)
The Corolla, even the CE is in my opinion, by far the best!!!!
I don't want to start any arguements in here because i own a corolla personally but honestly for the price range of the corolla, sentra, and civic, the best deal would be something that nobody in here would probably consider......the Hyundai Elantra. Its price is 11,900 and it has a really good build quality. Also its backed by a 10 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Not advertising btw. I say this because a friend of mine bought one and it really is a good car for the price. It comes with a load of features and it also has 140 hp under the hood which beats all the competitors in the price range. Just my input on this topic..........
Well it is a good price- but if you look at the JD power IQS (Initial Quality Survey) It was ranked worst or near worst in every catagory- Heck the ford foucus beat it out!!!! So if you bargin hunting and don't mind spending alot of time without your car (It WILL be in the shop alot) Then the Hyundai is a great choice :
Still that 10 100,000 mile waranty would be pretty nice on my Corolla!!!
Yeah! I'd say corolla is much better than the civic and sentra GXE. But, I think Sentra SE-R is really nice, performance or looks wise. Its in the corolla price range too...
jmschoep I also read that report. It really does make the elantra sound bad....but my friend had it for 6 months and it hasn't had any problems yet....well lets wait a few more months and see...
I don't know any anyone that has an Elantra but a buddy of mine has an accent- It's been in the shop many times and I think he's on his 4th or 5th set of brakes in 2 1/2 years or so... And no he dosen't put a crap load of miles on it. The up side- He was 18 and still in high school when he bought it- and HE bought it himself, not his parents. How many cars do you know that High schoolers afford ---- 1 Hyundai

Ouch! Lower than a Ford Focus. The ford Focus is one of the best selling cars right now and ironically requires the most repaires out of all new cars. So to be lower than a Focus is very bad.

A friend of mine bought a focus. I think he just pays his mechanic to store it there. Its fun to drive though for a change but I don't think I would ever buy one unless it was the SVT.
Yep, the 2003 Corolla is the fastest car in its class. Consumer Reports (I know, now a car mag, but still) recently tested the Corolla and its competitors, and it even beat out the Subaru Impreza 2.5TS in acceleration! I don't even consider that car in the same class.
