Oil dripping on feet

I have just spent the last week on my head installing a new heater core in my 1990 Corolla 4d sedan. Now it has started driping oil from the dash on to the brake pedal and good shoes. The only conection that I can think of is oil traveling up the speedo cable and dripping inside. Is that the only oil to the dash? It is not the brake system because it is dry and the oil is higher than the brake rod. Need some advise Don

The rubber grommet that wraps around the lines you mentioned (speedo, or anything else) might have been knocked off when you installed the heater core. Or it could have widened a little.

I wouldn't wear my best shoes if I were you, or bring a second pair of shoes for now and drive with your slippers or something.

Be safe--oil can also make the connection between your pedal and shoe slippery.

That's brake fluid from either the clutch master cylinder or the brake master cylinder. They're both located on the firewall basically right behind the steering wheel.

Well, I was filling my diffferential the other day and spilled some oil on the top of the tranny, where the speedo cable goes. Didn't think much of it, next thing I know is my foot slipping on the brake pedal. It had tracked up the speedo cable. Hopefully you have the same problem.

yep... believe it or not it happens in mk1 mr2's as well, and that's like an 8-10 foot cable

the fix: the speedometer drive unit in the transmission (has a bolt holding it down, then turns out a bit) has some internal seals... i would suggest either pulling that out and replacing it or rebuilding it with new seals....

Yeah I do, I havent taken any MR-2's apart, but I'm sure they are with mechanical speedos. But you luckily dont have to do that very often.
