2003+ Corolla factory alarm standard?

I just got a 2005 Toyota Corolla LE and was going over the features. Does anyone know if the car is suppose to come with a factory basic alarm security system or not? I know there is the key transmitter thing with a chip inside, but when I read the owner's manual, it says there is an alarm security system. But when I test it out following the procedures on the owner's manual, the horns didn't sound and lights don't flash. I called the dealer and asked them, they told me it's an option. There is a flashing red LED light on the left of the steering wheel. I owned a Camry in the past with a very similar feature and the standard alarm system works. The LED stays lit for about 30 seconds, then changes to flashing once it's arm. So if anyone own a 2003+ Corolla LE, can you please let me know if you guys have the feature or not? Maybe there is a way to turn it on myself.

Hi lenkun. What year car do you have. You say 2005 & also 2003 so, which year is it. The 2005 Corollas came with immoblilizars which, is the key chip.. Yes it does have a light but it is not an alarm. An alarm is optional .

Hi ems, I have a 2005. I mentioned 2003+ because the are the same generation and though that there should be more people with the 2003 & 2004 model with similar features. It's just that the owners manual didn't mention that it is optional, so I though it was standard like the rest of the other Toyotas that I own before. Is the key chip immobilizer new for model year 2005 like the Optiron Instrument display for the LE trim?

Also, I heard that the alarm can be turn on by setting the Toyota VIP RS unit to 5 in the range of 1-10 sensitive. The unit use to be hidden under the passenger seat of other Toyotas I own in the past, but now the new Corolla is hidden in the passenger side's right panel underneath the glove box.

Yes the immoblizer is new for the 2005 Corollas. The 2003 did not have it. Sorry I dont know how to answer your second question.

My '04 has the alarm system.The dealer I bought it from enables them for showroom demos,and if you order it fine,if not they disable it during the prep time out back,They must'a forgot on mine,But it is a option.Reminds me I gotta go back and tell the dealer I got my alarm witout paying..LOL..Rolla

yes, 05 LE does come with factory basic security system standard.

I have an 05 LE and it defintiely does not come with a factory alarm system. In my area you don't even get it with the base level GST option package, I believe it is the higher option package which is relatively rare. You do get a nice blinking LED though!
