Rough Start

Hola Mi gente..

I got a 1998 Corolla.. wif about 164k..

on start up it sound as if it has no oil...after warm all is good.. if have been using castrol high milage oil
..

hmmm

hmm.. start at the oil pump, also check the oil filter and pan.. gotta start somewhere also look for major leaks and check seals. Good luck

hmmm maybe turn on the radio and then crank it so that the oil will circulate through the engine

10w-40?? I use 10w-30 on my car for summer and 5w-30 in the winter and my car runs fine.. maybe the oil is too thick and its not getting into the parts until it warms up. Try 10w-30 see what happens.

As for the ticking sound.. my car does that too, and I've heard it on other cars... I think its basically lose valve lifters.. maybe a valve adjustment might take care of it.

ya 10 40 isnt wat toyota tell u...i want a thiner one in the winter and thicker in summer..... i say that ren says is good for the summer and winter.......and yes it should be the vavle lifter cuz my cousin got his adjusted and u dont hear it any more.......this was on a 240sx....just bring it into a good mechanice and they should be able to do it....

gracias fellas....

will go with 5w-30 full syn on my next oil change and get valves adjusted.. se how she does then i think wif 160+k on the clock ill prolly change out the timing chain...
