AE86 Help with wiring problem

i am 16 and i found a guy with a 86 sr5 2DR for 550$$ it has been sitting for about 2 years and he said it has a electric problem and when you start to drive it will loose spark and die. he said it must be something in the distributor or coil? do anyone have any information on a price? or any other reasons why that would happen. he said he is getting a battery for it so we can start it and check it out. i dont really want to buy it if it is going to be more trouble then it is really worth! but i did a kelley blue book and it is rated at about 800$ any help for the engine electrical problem? could it be more serious? but it sounds to me like a loss of spark is the distributor, or even a bad wire?

I'd save my money and wait for a better deal.. rather go for a GTS than an SR5.
