7afe vs 4age swap

Hi all! I have a 96 prizm and Im thinking of doing a swap. I know the 7afe is an easier swap for a beginner like me. My question is how much more difficult is the 4age 20v swap compared to the 7afe? Which 4age is better for a 96 prizm?

Don't swap a 4A-GE in. You have to rev really high to get any torque. I'd stick with the 7A-FE or a 4A-GZE.

I would choose any 4AGE over a 7AFE, any day. The 4AGZE is the best option out of the box.

Don't bother with a 7AFE swap, it's a waste of time.

The 4AGE bolts right in, it's just the wiring that can be hard. It's not even hard, you just need the diagrams and some patience... and some time.

www.phoenixtuning.com check there for more details on the swap.

the gze is not the best option out of the box...... it all depends on what you want to do with the car..... yes, the gze in my mr2 hauls, but it's heavy and makes the car handle badly... the excess torque it makes only causes excessive wheel spin

my smallport 4ag in my ae92 is a much funner engine to drive in the corners, easier to control and good feeling all the way to 7800....

hi all i have a 93 corolla le with the 7afe 1.8l motor i recently blew it and am looking for something else to put in it. might have a 4agze for 700$ from an mr2 will the 4agze motor mesh up to my current transmission? and will it bolt in with no problems? or does it need some minor motor mount fabrication? any and all problems/solutions that anyone can give me would be awesome. thanks everyone

btw i have headers and full 2.5" exhaust on the car with cold air intake atm will all or most of these parts still work on the 4agze( if the motor will fit that is) ?

you know what, if i had a blown 7afe and plan on getting a 4age i would just put both of them together to build another 7age or 7agze. the A block series in toyota have all same mounts i believe. and they all mesh up with the trans, i just think that the clutch is different from 6 or 7 bolts or something i cant remember, but then again, if dr.tweak recommends something, id go with it, he made my buddies harness and its super legit!

aww... that sucks... yeah then go with a 4age swap then... but i like the low end torque over the high end torque from a 4age... i dont spend enough time on the road in high rpms... but then again with you go with good old boosted SC then no problem there... that is my goal if i dont have enough money for the 2zz swap in my 91 corolla...

I got my motor already and I'm having a bit of an issue with clutch kit. The one I got for mr2 supercharge doesn't fit. Well pressure plate is slightly off from the dowels and bolt holes on the flywheel. My motor and transmission are second or third generation jdm gze. Distributor less version. So I'm kinda stuck at this one point right now. motor is gorgeous looking though all rebuild and ported and shit. Cometic head gasket arp studs. Gonna do a turbo setup on it as well and do a bunch of body work and suspension and add 1.25" wheel spacers all around to give it a 2.5" wider stance on the road. Maybe even stagger the stance with rims. I think that would be cool

on the mr2 trans i heard that you cant really install it, something about shift link or something is backwards... but i think your stock trans should bolt up to it though... have you tried that? if not, you might have to look into a 4age trans... but i have seen ppl bolt the 7a block to stock GTS corollas and Sr5 corolla trans though...

The 7afe transmission (c52) is a 22 spline input shaft and the e-series transmission is a 26spline input shaft and a lot beefier the gze takes the larger shaft and anyways my gze is from a jdm fwd vehicle. I believe it's an e58 transmission which is basically the mr2 supercharge tranny but fwd configuration and has LSD
