AE86 ae86 and e-test

I will have a sr20 in a corolla and will want it out on the road next year (2007 spring) and i was wondering how old the car has to be before you dont have to do e-testing anymore. The reason i am wondering is because i don;t want leglizing an sr20 corolla to become an issue.
thanks
alan
