Water Leak!

Hi!

I got a problem. My wife noticed water on the passenger side of my car. I have a 2000 corolla. The car mat as well as the carpet was soaked. This occurs only when the AC is on. Is this condensation from the air conditioner, or is the drain tube cloged? Or is it something else? If anyone has an idea of what the problem might be, I would greatly appreciate your response.

Thanks,

Toyowner

water leak

hey toymaniac!

I do appreciate your responses. I think you were right the first time. I'm going to take it to the dealer. I was just trying to save myself a few bucks.

Thanks again,

Wet Carpet

Sure sounds like a pluged drain tube, although there are a couple other rare things it could be- All in All still take it to the dealer and mention the carpets (and the firewall insulator if it got wet) be really wet and make sure he notes it on the repair order- that way if mold develops and stinks up the car you are more likely to get it taken care of without a big head-ache

Good point. My wife is highly allergic to mold. Hopefully the carpet has dried out sufficiently. I really appreciate your help on this. This is a great web site! Thanks again.

Spiders like to make webs in the drain tubes. Its probably clogged.

Smile It is your air condition unit

drain hose that is clogged. Look underneath and clear the clogged tube with a hanger. You will no longer have the problem...I have seen it many times before....your welcome..

Hey, does anyone have any idea how I can gain access to this? I took off my glove compartment box and can see the black plastic, but can't manage to dissemble it. Any ideas?

I am dealing with the same problem. For the last 2.5 months I have water pouring in under the glove box on to the carpet. I have had my car at the dealership 3 times and they can't find anything wrong with it while it is there. I have noticed it only happens when I take left turns and it makes a loud noise. My car is a 2003 highlander. They did find a clog the first time I brought it in but it is still leaking.

yeah it's bad news for me

I would occassionally have water shoot out a little bit through the vents but it was barely noticable so I never really took notice of it hapopening. But then one day I was driving and I smelt burnt electronics all of a sudden. I was afraid it was my ipod so i hurredly disconnected it. But I didnt realize it was the radio until later. I don't think it was preventable at that point since the damage had already been done. And then the sound went out and now it sounds like I have blown speakers (probably blown internal amp )

damn it.
