XRS + Injen Dyno Results Part II

Well, I took my Corolla XRS to the dyno with the Injen CAI intalled, and the best run I got was of a neat 162.2 whp at 7600 rpm on 4th gear, and a speed of 122.92 mph. On the other runs I got 158.9, 159.6, and 160.2 whp. On the same run I got the 162.2 whp at 4th gear, I got 160.1 at 3rd. A huge factor according to the dyno technician: outside temperature. The runs were made at 92 F of temperature, so I am sure that all you guys at colder weathers will get better results. According to him, a gain of 3 or more hp can be gotten if the temperature was under 60 F. Besides the CAI the only additional mod I have in my XRS is a performance muffler. Thanks to djwolfd for making me go for an Injen CAI. If it wasn't for your post, I will be still running with the stock intake.

Well, I drove it on Sunday under heavy rain w/out problems, but care have to be taken when driving through places that has large obvious amounts of water accumulated.

Overall, I am very happy as to how efficient the 2ZZ is in putting down most of the power to the wheels, but the torque curve is quite weird. The torque dip that happens right before lift (down to 98 ft lbs) and then a sudden surge in torque (up to 118 ft lbs in 300 rpm) is another weird thing. I think Toyota does that on purpose to make the lift kick feel a lot harder and more dramatic??

Well, my technician told me that was the sole purpose. He even told me that Toyota admitted it in some old press notes last year. But that effect feels great

As for the bypass valve, I had one, not AEM, a unknown brand, on my Sentra, and it was a piece of shit. It wont protect anything.
