Tire suggestions?

Hey guys looking for some opinions for tire sizes. My 04 CE needs new sneakers bad. my OE 185-65-15's have rendered themselves uesless, and I need an upgrade. My questions are this...I am keeping the steelies for now...so what can I squeeze onto my car? 205-60-15's?

I admit I don't understand the +1,+2 stuff....so I need a lil advice.

+1 +2 means how many inches you grow the diameter of the rim.

205 might be hard to fit on a rim meant for a 185, i dont know what the stock rims are, but I assume they're 5.5 to 6". 205 should have atleast a 7" rim.

go with 195/60-15's that's probably the best you can do without having too many problems.

I'd say 195-65-15, as found on the LE and S. You'll notice an improvement right away. The Yokohama Avid H4 is a total slam dunk . Read the reviews on tirerack.com. Everyone LOVES that tire, plus it's cheap. I wouldn't consider anything else.

8.4 out of 10 does not "suck in the rain." The Avid H4s is only bested by the BFG Traction TA/H and the Bridgestone RE950. It's the RE950 that does indeed "suck in the snow."

So, based on this survey, the BFG is technically the "best" in this group, and I actually put a set of those on my wife's Mustang and loved 'em. For some irrational reason, I prefer "Japanese" tires on my Corolla. Besides, the Yoko has the edge in ride, noise, and treadwear, all of which are important to me.

Bet your oe tires was Goodyear Integrity's as was mine (got 35K out of them) ..I have an 03-S and went to 205-65-15(with no problems at all) BFG traction t/a H, its a great tire for the money plus the 205 has an extra thread on it that the 195 doesn't(4 for$330 out the door at Sams Club).. Had them on for 5K now..the ride is a little rougher but the outstanding all season traction and wear make up for it.. Many here say I should have gone to a 205-60-15 because its better in the snow(most that say that are from Canada, lots of snow) But I really like the wider tire(anyway its not that big of a difference)it fills my wheelwells up nice and its just fine for Ohio weather...going to a larger tire will throw your true mileage off a little..there are some webs that will tell you how much..google it...Radd Guy

Yeah but the tire also has an extra half inch on the sidewall, which means your speedo is now off by about 5kph. Had you know this you would have chosen 205/60-15 and you would have caused no difference in speed.

Rule of thumb is.. you go up 1 measure in width and down one in height.. so for example
a 185/60-14 tire could be replaced by a 195/55-14 tire
a 195/65-15 tire could be upped to a 205/60-15 and cause no change on your speedo.

btw I'm from Canada, but I'm not telling you this because its better for snow.. its because its the way its supposed to go. If you had asked for snow tire sizes I would have suggested 185/70-15's cause yeah, the thinner the tire the better you handle in snow.. look at the WRC cars.. they use very skinny tires in snow.
