Hi,

I've just bought a 2003 Corolla a week ago for a great price. The catch: no central locking.
My plan is to install the central locking myself. Of course, I could remove one door panel and have a look inside, but it's -10 degrees outside, so I'm asking if any of you knows if the door locking mechanism of a 2003 model is by rod or by cable, as increasingly new cars seem to have. If anyone has a picture, that would be even better.

okay, since nobody seems to know, I took matters in my own hands and had a look.
Not surprised to find that the locking mechanism is cable operated.

Next question: Has anyone added central locking to his car in diy?

Any helpful hints?

you could buy power door lock kits. try a search at 2003corolla.org I think someone there bought a kit.
