Timing Belt Issues on 2005 Corolla XRS

Hello,
Thinking about buying a 2005 Corolla XRS and I heard they may be some timing belt issues with the Corolla. Does the 05 XRS even have a timing belt, or does it have a chain and are there any known issues with it? Are there any other known problems with the Corolla that I should know about. I know the Corolla is known to be a very reliable car, but just thought I'd check first.

Thanks

Timing Belt?? Corollas have been chain driven since early 00s so XRS also has a chain. What makes you think you have a problem??

Father in-law's co-worker. I know, I know, just figured I'd ask to appease the wife.

I bought an 03 S (My first non-VW in 24 years) Now, 190,000km later it has proven to be the most trouble free car that I have ever owned.....and I'm NOT easy on a car.

Nope, just a commuter with older ailing parents 400km away who travels in his job. My worst years were when I first took this job. 1984-85. I put on 300,000km in 2 years.
I have driven VW Jetta turbodiesels from 1983 till 2003, when a New Beetle severely soured me on VW. I bought the Corolla, and now, 190,000km later, will never go back to VW. These have been the most trouble-free miles I've ever driven. I've changed one headlight bulb and done the front brakes once.
