Driving comfort

We find the driving comfort in our '05 good but the steering wheel position seems odd.
Even with the tilt wheel steering is a bit uncomfortable.
We can't seem to make a turn with hand at 12 o'clock on steering wheel with having to move the seat up where it's uncomfortable.
It's not such a big deal but the seating and steering wheel position is quite different from other vehicles.
The wheel should have a telescoptic feature standard.

I agree totally with you, I bought my 05 last October and this is my only complaint with the corrolla. We just can't find a comfortable position. A telescoptic feature would definately correct this problem.

I read in a review that there are many complaints of seating position problems in the 05.

that's actually afffecting all Corollas 2003 and after. I call this short leg, long arm position.
Either the arms are too short if the legs are right or the arms are right and the legs are too long. So ideally, you need short legs and long arms. Hehe.
I was thinking if there is a way to add a piece to the hub of the steering column to bring the
steering wheel closer to me, but so far I haven't atttempted it. With the airbag it's a little tricky.

Ciao,
Joachim

Problem lies mainly with Taller drivers 5'10 and above, I mentioned this several Times to Toyota Canada and they mentioned next Generation Corolla will prolly have Telescope as standard equipment.

Wink Seating Position - 05 Corolla

After having owned 4 Prizms, I just purchased an O5 Corolla CE, 5 speed manual. My son just got hit by a snowplow in the 02 Prizm- broadside which pushed him into a ditch. Totalled the car but he did not get hurt. Sad to see it go, but delighted with the Corolla. The oldest Prizm was a 94 which my youngest son was driving unitl we got rid of that last year after 180K miles. Drivetrain, clutch, engine all original and still running well. He is now driving the 97 which I purchased new. Has 140K or so and still the drivetrain all original. Never had to put a clutch in one.

Both my wife and I find the seating position of the new 05 to be ideal. This is truly a refined small car. Comfort and handling second to none.

I am 5-11 and wife is 5-6. Both use exactly the same seat position. My legs are on the short side for my height (30" inseam), so maybe that is why I find it so comfortable.

Since we drive the standard, we may have the seat a little closer to the wheel in order to fully depress the clutch pedal fully to the floor in order to shift. Those of you with an auto tranny most likely have the seat a little further back as you don't need to depress a clutch.
