Canada Is it me or does the 06 Jetta look like the 9th Gen Corolla?

Hey everybody,
I'm not sure if I am seeing things, but is it just me or does the 06 Jetta have a striking resemblance to the 9th Gen Corolla? I swear from a distance they look almost identical. Let me know what you think.

You know, my son-in-law, a loyal VW owner, converted by me early in life, said that to me on the weekend.

No doubt. I was at the Canadian International auto show in Toronto and i agree, it looks like a 9th Gen.
The all new Toyota Jetta.

At work, in the parking lot, there is a civic, lancer and my rolla, all with moonroof and spoiler. From the rear they all look the same, at first glance. The diffs are small, but I drove all three and that's where the comparison ends. No wonder everyone wants to copy toyota.

It's a nice looking car but now it doesn't stand out like the current Jetta line does. It looks like another "cookie cutter" car on the road. I wonder what the next Generation Corolla will look like? Maybe a VW? LOL
