What should be the idle RPM be when warm in neutral and in gear with a automatic?

My 04 S used to idle at 700 - 800 rpm when thoroughly warmed up. My XRS idles at 1100 rpm when thoroughly warmed up.

Thanks for the reply.
My '05 seems to be idling at 1000 and 900 in gear.
I'll have to check it again though.
I want to make sure it was completely warmed up.
It should have been but I'll check again.

I am bringing my '05 in for a free 1000 mile check service and I'll use the free oil change coupon and go to Mobil 1 at 5000 miles.
I figured I'd ask the Corolla gurus on the forum about the idle while I'm bringing her in for service.
I guess the highher idle is the way it should be considering yours is the same.
Thanks.

If you do not have the air conditioner on (e.g. defrost mode) the car should idle around 800rpm or a hair lower in gear. I've never seen one at 1000rpm in gear once warmed up, and I have driven about 5. I don't know the speed out of gear because I never drive that way.

Hmmm...

I'll check it again when absolutely warm when the wife gets home from work before we drop the car off at the dealer tonight.

Yep...it's at 900 when warm.
Seems high but I guess that's the factory setting as many of us have the same reading.

I double checked things while my neighbor was home for lunch:

His 05 S: 680RPM in gear, 780RPM in neutral
My 05 LE: 670RPM in gear, 770RPM in neutral

These are as good as I can estimate them, as the tachs aren't the greatest for telling precisely the RPM.

My dash is easier to take a photo of than his, so I took one of mine to make sure I'm reading these right.

Here mine is in drive:

Here mine is in neutral:
