Firestone 690 Recall, G009 Replacement?
Some of you may have heard about a recall of the junk-ass Firestone 690s from a limited run of '03 Corolla LEs and S due to a "whirring helicopter" sound.
TMS says call Firestone. On Firestone's advice, I went in to a Firestone-owned store this weekend, and it looks like at least 2 of my tires will be honored under the recall.
They said it was OK if I wanted to upgrade, so I'm looking at the Potenza G009. They should only cost me $28 each (net). Saw a lot of positive reviews of these on Tire Rack. They seem like a major upgrade from the RE950, which seems deadly in the snow.
Anyone have any experience with the G009?
Anyone have an other recommendations for a decent Firestone / Brodgestone product instead?
